ShootPal Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ShootPal ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the ShootPal application (the "Service").

This document is a draft prepared for review and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. Please have it reviewed by legal counsel before publishing.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create a ShootPal account, we collect your name, email address, and password (or, if you sign in with Google, the name and email associated with your Google account).

Studio and profile information. Information you provide about your business, including studio name, logo, business email, phone number, and website.

Shoot and project data. Information you enter about your photography business, including project and shoot names, dates, times, locations, notes, and workflow checklists.

Client information. Information you enter about your own clients, including names, email addresses, and phone numbers. You are responsible for having the right to store and process this information about your clients, and for complying with any privacy obligations you owe to them under applicable law.

Location data. If you enter a shoot or studio address, this location is sent to Google's Places and Distance Matrix services to provide address autocomplete and mileage calculations. See Section 4 below.

Financial information you enter. Income and expense figures you manually record for your own business tracking. ShootPal does not process payments on your behalf for your own client billing — this is self-reported data for your own recordkeeping.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid tier, your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. ShootPal does not directly collect or store your full credit card number. See Section 4 below.

Photos. Photos you upload, including your profile photo, studio logo, and location reference photos.

Usage data. Basic technical information such as device type, browser type, and general usage patterns, used to maintain and improve the Service.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Process your subscription and billing
  • Communicate with you about your account
  • Improve and troubleshoot the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Your Clients' Information

ShootPal allows you to store information about your own clients (name, email, phone) for your business recordkeeping. This information is entered and controlled by you. ShootPal acts only as a storage and organizational tool for data you provide; we do not independently collect information about your clients, and we do not contact your clients on your behalf.

4. Third-Party Services

ShootPal relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
  • Google — sign-in authentication, address autocomplete (Places API), and mileage distance calculations (Distance Matrix API). Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • [Hosting platform name] — application hosting and infrastructure.

5. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you provide, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data remains associated with your account but certain features become inaccessible until you resubscribe. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within [X] days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Children's Privacy

ShootPal is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
